Adrenalin Motorsport Team Alzner Automotive secured the production car trophy early at the seventh round of the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). With two races remaining, Daniel Zils, Sindre Setsaas, and Oskar Sandberg can no longer be overtaken by the competition. With their sixth class win in the VT2-R+4WD, the driver trio now holds all the cards to deliver Adrenalin Motorsport Team Alzner Automotive its fifth overall NLS Championship in a row. The Junior Trophy has already been decided: Adrenalin driver Sindre Setsaas is now crowned champion.
“We are very pleased that we have already been able to secure both titles early, and we will now do everything we can to clinch the overall championship in the next round with the BMW 330i G20 ‘500 Mainhattan Wheels’,” says team manager Matthias Unger. “That result alone would be enough – which shows how strong the performance of the entire team has been so far.” Once again, Unger could look back on impressive class-wide results during the seventh NLS round. In addition to the triumph in the VT2-R+4WD class, the team from Heusenstamm also claimed victories in classes V4, V6, and BMW M240i. In V5 and the BMW M2 CS Cup, they also reached the podium – achieving success in all classes where they fielded vehicles.
In class V4, the decision came in the final lap. Up until then, a thrilling duel for victory kept not only the protagonists but also the spectators on the edge of their seats. Current NLS champion Philipp Leisen showed strong nerves and ultimately prevailed against the fellow BMW 325i E90 entry from Team Source Malt. Earlier, Jacob Erlbacher and Oliver Frisse had paved the way to victory with strong performances. An interim power steering issue was quickly resolved by the team, which proved to be a key factor in the success.
After Ulrich, Tobias, and Daniel Korn were involved in an accident during the 12h race through no fault of their own in their No.444 Neufeld-KFZ Porsche Cayman, this time things went smoothly. The father-son team adapted to changing weather conditions and, after a faultless performance, secured another podium finish in the current season.
Lutz Marc Rühl, Christian Büllesbach, and Andreas Schettler – supported by David Perel at NLS 7 – also delivered a strong performance. Together, the driver quartet secured the classification group victory for NLS production cars. This successfully overcame the string of bad luck that had recently haunted the No.396 NEXEN-TIRES Porsche Cayman S.
Adrenalin Motorsport Team Alzner Automotive is always among the top teams on the Nordschleife in the Nürburgring Endurance Series – and the most recent weekend was no exception. Several international motorsport stars were behind the wheel. IMSA drivers Ross Gunn and Roman De Angelis shared driving duties. The latter was recently crowned GTD class champion with Aston Martin. Both drivers not only completed their permit laps at the Nürburgring Nordschleife but also secured the class win.
Following them, the second BMW 240i – a unique vehicle focused on weighing technology – completed the one-two finish. Alongside Adrenalin regular Nils Steinberg, Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer and Charles Weerts (both known from the GT World Challenge Europe) also took the wheel. Belgian driver Weerts recently defended his Sprint Cup title in the same series.
However, it was a different story for the crew of the No.650 Veedol BMW M240i. After two consecutive victories, Sven Markert, Robin Reimer, and Nick Deißler were forced to retire early due to a material defect in the new drive shaft – despite a strong performance.
Adrenalin Motorsport scored another podium in the BMW M2 CS Cup. Lars Harbeck, Michelangelo Comazzi, Stefan Kruse, and Charles Weerts – who completed a double start – finished second after the four-hour race. Weerts thus gained further experience at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, as did GT World Challenge Silver Cup champion Benjamin Goethe, who, alongside former DTM driver Ferdinand Habsburg, drove the No.501 Mainhattan-Wheels BMW 330i G20 in the VT2-R+4WD class to a strong fourth place.
